Closer Than Ever: Discover Airlines Brings Frankfurt to Belize
Belize just got a lot easier to reach from Europe.
The Belize Tourism Board has announced that Discover Airlines will launch seasonal service connecting Frankfurt, Germany, to Belize, beginning December 16, 2027. Flights will operate twice weekly, on Thursdays and Sundays, through mid-April 2028.
For travelers in Germany and across Europe, this opens a new door to the Caribbean coast of Central America. For anyone who owns property in Belize, especially on Ambergris Caye, it could be a meaningful development.
What the Announcement Means
Until now, travelers coming from Europe have typically needed to connect through North American hubs, adding time, cost, and complexity to the trip. A seasonal route from Frankfurt, one of Europe’s largest international hubs, gives European travelers a simpler way to get here, and it lands in the heart of Belize’s peak season, from December through April, when the weather on the island is at its best.
Discover Airlines is part of the Lufthansa Group, and Frankfurt connects to a wide network of cities across Germany and Europe. That means travelers from many places can reach Belize with a single connection in Frankfurt.
Why It Matters for Ambergris Caye
Most visitors to Belize eventually find their way to Ambergris Caye. Between the barrier reef, San Pedro town, the diving and fishing, and the relaxed island lifestyle, it is the country’s best-known destination. Once travelers land at Philip Goldson International, it’s a short domestic flight or a water taxi ride to the island.
